Office Killer

Office Killer
Director: Cindy Sherman, 1997.
United States, 82 minutes.

Living somewhere at the intersection of horror, drama, and comedy lives Cindy Sherman's Office Killer, a film that seems to keep a lot in common with Sherman's earliest work in photography. Most explicit violence and murder, the driving action of the film, lie outside of the frame, leaving the audience wanting more. An alienated and mousy office worker is outsourced to work from her company at home, further driving her feelings of alienation as she becomes another ping in her coworker's inbox. An accidental murder, then another, then another. The bodies are piling up, people aren't coming in to work. Emails keep coming saying it's just the flu, but is it something more sinister? Driven by Sherman at the helm, Office Killer is photogenic even when wallowing through piles of viscera.
