Director: René Uhlmann
Switzerland, 57 minutes.
From 1976 to 1980 Swiss filmmaker René Uhlmann made time-lapse movies of Zurich's underground punk and new wave scene. The resulting juddering images and motion blurs capture the youthful dynamism and excitement of the time. In 2006 he pieces together the footage with their live music and other animations, and this heady hour-long work is aptly titled Punk Cocktail. Featured are rare performances by Kleenex, the Dogboys, Mother’s Ruin, TNT, and more.
