Director: Jenny Plante, 2016.
United States, 60 minutes.
Unlikely news reporter Janine Costello-White travels from New York to New Hampshire seeking to get the inside scoop on the first-in-the-nation Presidential Primary for her independent news station WZOP Channel 3 in Queens. With a working knowledge of media and the news that doesn't appear to extend past 1992, Janine stumbles along attempting to talk to the likes of Hillary and Donald.
BROADCAST is the abandoned love child of Working Girl and The War Room, that manages to observe the everyday drudgery and the random horrors a female reporter faces while covering a major news story. Shot on VHS, the documentary maintains a nostalgic feel while depicting the discordant political landscape we are living in today.
Q&A session with director Jenny Plante to follow screening.
