Blue

Blue
Director: Derek Jarman, 1993.
United Kingdom, 79 minutes.
English.

A screen of Yves Klein Blue and the sound of voices narrating Jarman's script of reflections on the artist's sexual identity, the legacy of his life, and his impending death from AIDS comprise Jarman's final film, achieving a simultaneously meditative and confrontational effect. Robbed of his sight due to infection, only able to see an endless field of blue, Jarman invites his audience to join him in staring plainly into the face of death and into the infinite space beyond.
